Time for a different toy story?

September 29th, 2009

Hundreds of thousands of parents out there with bright young children must often struggle to get the right toys for their children. The price of toys is higher than ever and to add further frustration to their woes, very few children’s toys seem to last long before breaking. Others fail to incite children’s’ attention for more than a few days before they get bored and never look at it again.

There are many reasons for this so we decided it was time to bring some quality back to the toy market by making quality wooden toys available to you again .

Woody the hero

One of the greatest feature cartoons to come from the Walt Disney Film Studios is ‘Toy Story’. Ask any kid who grew up around that time who the coolest of the Toy Story bunch were and they’ll tell you it was Woody the Cowboy. Of all the toys he was elected leader. He was the most durable, the toughest and the wisest. Why? He was one of the elite of all toys, he was one of the wooden toys.

So if the gurus that pander to children’s imaginations at Walt Disney see the wisdom in wooden toys, why shouldn’t we all follow suit? They’re far more durable, they’re far safer and there’s such a wide variety now available.

Our toys are made from renewable high quality wood that leaves you with, amongst others, a choice of toys on wheels, push and pull toys, educational toys, wooden cars and even wooden train sets.

Lasting toys bring lasting relationships for your kids, and we all know that’s priceless.

Traditional toys – some things never change

August 15th, 2009

Before the age of plastic, the most common material used for making toys was wood, lovingly carved and crafted. Wood was used because it was natural, available, strong, easily fixed when broken, easily re-painted and easy to work with.

The sort of toys that Dad and Mum, even Grandpa and Grandma used to play with, when they were young, and yes, we were all young once!

Inevitably, there were toys for boys, and toys for girls, and today, it is not too different, except for the interesting range of educational toys.

The range from the past

My Natural Wooden Toys have re-created the past with a range of wooden toys that are traditional yet anything but dull. The wooden rocking horse still looks exactly like the rocking horse from those days. Now days though, you have a few more animal choices. You can choose a donkey, a camel, a turtle, or even a motor bike.

Do you remember those wooden trains you could pull around, the swing, or the locomotive while you made a “toot, toot” sound, or even the aeroplane? These lovely old wooden toys are all available from My Natural Wooden Toys today.

The difference today though, is that wooden toys are more carefully manufactured so that no harmful products are used. Thus if you find your child chewing on a toy, you do not have to worry about harmful effects.

You could well find that careful choices of traditional wooden toys could be handed down from generation to generation.

Pre-school toys & pull toys – start your children early

August 1st, 2009

My Natural Wooden Toys make a marvellous range of natural wooden toys for children to use. The range of toys extends from wooden toys for pre-schoolers, to those for older children to play with around the garden, or the local park.

All the wooden toys are brightly coloured and sturdily built, as we all know; kids can be hard on toys. And being made of wood, if something does break, fixing something made of wood is as easy as buying some glue from the hardware store.

How to do it

We have a marvellous catalogue that can be viewed online to help you make a choice. One of the pre-school toys you should have a look at is the abacus. It’s a sturdy wooden toy designed to help the child make sense of quantities. The abacus comes in different animal forms like a dog or a horse and even a cow making it easy for a child to identify with the animal and reinforce the learning.

Depending on how far the child is advanced, you could also have a look at the wooden puzzles which are designed to help develop the child’s memory.

Have a look at the wooden toy clock, an ideal way to teach your child how to tell the time.

The pull toy range from us is just that, a wooden toy to pull around. You will probably remember them from your own child hood. They are simply that, something to have fun with. All are brightly coloured and in different shapes from cats and dogs to ladybirds.

There is something for every child available from My Natural Wooden Toys.
